This PR contains the complete work of migrating from perseus stable 0.3.6 to perseus beta 0.4.0-beta21.

There are a lot of exciting new functionalities in 0.4.0 that will be implemented in other PRs. This PR is made to be "minimal".

Cleaning up and general improvements thanks to the new perseus version can come later.
